Video master class on knitting mittens:

Description of the process of knitting double mittens with knitting needles:

In order to understand how many loops you need to cast on first, knit the sample in a circle using stockinette stitch and make the necessary calculations. Then measure the volume of your hand; to do this, wrap a centimeter around the part of your palm that is located above the thumb (without the thumb itself). We knitted for a hand volume of 19cm (slightly loose).

And here are the green ones from the video lesson.

Instructions

Start knitting the regular (top) stitch for the left hand. To do this, you need to cast on the required number of stitches, dividing them equally for each of the four double needles. Select the size of the future double individually. The easiest way to refine it is to knit several rows with an elastic band and pull the unfinished sample onto your palm.

Having specified the size of the double mitten, knit an elastic band 1x1 (one front and one back) or 2x2 (two front and two back) about seven centimeters in height. Next, perform the first circular row with knit stitches in stockinette stitch); in this case, it is necessary to add one loop on each working needle.

Tie the circular fabric to the beginning of the thumb and remove several open loops, threading them onto a pin. Also measure the required hole size for subsequent fingering individually, calculating the knitting density.

Next, you need to tie the mitten to the level of your index finger and turn the unknitted product inside out. Now pick up stitches along the edges of the elastic band of the outer mitten to work on the inner lining piece. To do this, thread a thread from the edge of the work, tie it in a knot and pull out the loops, stringing them onto working needles.

Perform the mitten-“”. After finishing the work, also on the tip of your index finger, close the toe of the product. To do this, you need to remove each last loop of the circular row onto the next working needle and knit it together with the next loop. As a result, you should have one loop on your knitting needles (four in total).

Pull the thread through the remaining open loops and pull it tight. Using a hook, the thread must be pulled to the wrong side of the work. Finish knitting the top of the front mitten in the same way.

Next you need to tie your thumb on one and then repeat on the other mitten. Make sure that the inner and outer fingers are perfectly sized. It is convenient to first make the inner finger, insert it into the hole for the outer finger and then tie it.

Proceed with your finger like this: string the loops set aside on the pin onto the knitting needle; add the same number of air loops and a couple of side loops. Distribute them evenly on three working needles and make circular rows to the middle of the nail. When knitting the top, cast off one loop in each row until only a couple of loops remain on the knitting needles. Tighten the toe with thread.

Perform the second, right, double mitten in the same manner. When finished, carefully insert the inner mitten into the outer one, carefully straightening out all the folds. For ease of use (so that the lining part does not slip out of the front part every now and then), make a couple of invisible stitches on the tips of the fingers and the toe of the product, fixing the parts.

Knit mittens with knitting needles to keep your hands warm even in the most severe frost!

Mittens are the most practical and convenient accessory for cold winters. Today you can buy mittens of different models on the market, but it is more pleasant to wear if you knit them yourself.

  • To learn how to knit beautiful mittens, you must first create a simple model of mittens - with a simple pattern and without a seam.
  • Based on the skill of knitting such accessories, you can knit any warm items of clothing for your husband and children.

Every woman should know how to knit mittens, just like woolen socks. Let's look at how to create simple mittens for women and men using knitting needles without a seam.

Diagram and description:

Such a product can be plain, or you can add a thread of a different color to the elastic or stockinette stitch. The knitting pattern for such mittens is simple: 2x2 elastic on the wrist, the rest is stockinette stitch.

  • For the knitting process, prepare wool yarn- 70 grams and 5 short needles No. 3.
  • For a wrist girth of approximately 20 cm, you need to cast on 36 loops(9 loops on each knitting needle).
  • Knit the right mitten first. Mentally, number the knitting needles for yourself: on the 1st and 2nd knitting needles there are loops of the lower part of the product (palm), on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles - the upper ones.
  • First tie a 2x2 elastic band 7 cm high.
  • Then knit in the round facial loops to the beginning of the thumb - 7 cm.

We continue the steps:

  • Knit the thumb on the right part on the first needle, and for the left - on the second knitting needle. So, knit the first loop of the first knitting needle with regular stockinette stitch, and remove the remaining 8 stitches with a safety pin and fasten it.
  • Then cast on 8 yarn over stitches on the same needle. and knit the last 9th stitch in stockinette stitch. The mitten had a hole for the thumb.
  • Now knit to the nail of the little finger - 8 cm.
  • Toe mittens knitted with decreasing stitches. On the 1st and 3rd needles, knit the first two loops together behind the back wall. Pre-turn the first loop. On other knitting needles, knit two loops together at the end behind the front wall.
  • Knit like this until there are 2 loops left on each knitting needle.. Tighten the loops and fasten from the inside out.
  • Thumb knitting- remove the pin and insert one knitting needle in place of this pin, and thread the second one on the opposite side. It turned out 7 loops on the bottom knitting needle and 6 loops on the top.
  • Distribute stitches onto 4 needles: three will have 4 loops, and one will have 3 plus one loop pulled out from the side edge.
  • Knit your finger in a circle to the beginning of the nail. Then start decreasing.
  • Decrease on the toe is done as on the toe. When there is one loop left on each knitting needle, pull the loops and fasten from the wrong side.
  • Knit the left mitten similarly to the right one, but in a mirror image.

  • Now connect two elastic bands on circular knitting needles.

Let's continue:

  • Knit in stockinette stitch in the round. There is no need for a hole for fingers on such mittens. Therefore, knit 7-8 cm before starting to create the heart.
  • Knit the heart according to the pattern, first making 6 loops in the middle of the knitting on one side, with white thread, through 2 loops.
  • In the next row there will already be 7 loops with a white thread through one red thread. Next, continue according to the pattern, first knitting the loops with white thread, then decreasing the white color until one loop remains.

How to knit mittens “Norwegian patterns”? Diagram with description:

Important: When knitting such an ornament, it is important to be able to pull the thread, because you need to constantly change yarn from one color to another. Monitor the quality of the drawing so that the thread tension is uniform and the pattern does not lose its shape.

The pulling process is performed as follows: straighten the knitted loops on the right knitting needle, pull the thread along them, and hold the thread with the index finger of your right hand, pressing it against the last knitted loop. On the wrong side, it is more convenient to press the thread with the thumb of your right hand.

Tip: On the right side, knit with knit stitches and pull the thread of the unused color so that it remains under the right needle. On the wrong side, knit with purl stitches and with your left hand, pull the other thread in front of the work and under the right needle. On the wrong side, the threads are pulled in front of the loops.

If you have learned how to thread a thread of a different color, then you can start knitting Norwegian patterns using any of the patterns. One cell in the diagram is one loop of a certain color.

  • Knit with a pattern of 10 cm thick yarn and calculate how many loops you have in 1 cm of knitting.
  • Now you know how many stitches to cast on for one mitten - 18-20 or a little more.

Important: Knit mittens from thick yarn in simple patterns - knit or purl stitch, tangle stitch, and so on.

Video: KNOWN MITTENS. CHILDREN'S MITTENS FOR 2 YEARS OF AGE. HOW TO KNIT MITTENS OF ANY SIZE?

Any woman who knows how to knit will probably tell you how unique double mittens are. And this is not surprising, because in harsh winter weather, few mittens or gloves can protect your hands from the cold.

Although you can find a lot of insulated winter accessories in stores, most often they are either nondescript or similar to each other, so needlewomen have no choice but to knit mittens themselves. The advantages of mittens knitted with knitting needles are obvious: the needlewoman herself can choose patterns, threads and accessories to knit not only a warm and reliable, but also a unique thing.

A simple way to knit double mittens

Many women, whose knitting experience is relatively small, are sure that not everyone can knit double mittens. Two-layer products are complex and beginners should not attempt this. In fact, this is not entirely true: many knitted double mittens can indeed be complex, especially if they have complex patterns or entire appliqués. But there are also simplified options that even novice needlewomen can handle. Let's take a step-by-step look at one of these methods, created specifically for beginners.

  1. We begin to knit a regular mitten with an English elastic band. For this we need yarn of medium thickness. You can even take threads from unraveled items: the main thing is that they are in good condition. Also, there will be nothing wrong with choosing thin yarn for your future product - double mittens will always be warmer than regular ones.
  2. We take the thread and fix it on the inside of the product - where the elastic usually ends, after which we pull out the loops using a hook. Now we need toe knitting needles on which to put the pulled out loops.
  3. The number of loops is always different: it mainly depends on the diameter of the knitting needles, the ornament or the thickness of the threads. Therefore, when all the loops are cast on toe knitting needles, we measure approximately 50 cm from the thread and cut off the rest.
  4. Now we need to pull the thread to the front side and connect it with the yarn from the ball. Someone ties a knot, someone winds the threads to each other using sewing threads - there are a lot of ways, but the main thing is to remain securely connected.
  5. Using sock knitting needles, we begin to knit the outer mitten. You should always ensure that the thumb level on both products is at the same height.

You should not immediately try to knit items of advanced complexity - start with simple ones and over time you will be able to easily knit even the most complex items, and knitting will bring you pleasure.

  • If you don’t have the right quality yarn on hand, then don’t worry: even yarn whose quality leaves much to be desired can be quite suitable for an inner mitten. But, before you knit the outer mitten, remember that in this case it should be knitted quite tightly.
  • There is also a method when the inner mitten is knitted warmly and tightly, and thin or openwork threads are used for the outer one. Usually, in this case, a “translucent” ornament is knitted on the outer mitten. Very often the top layer is knitted with either a lighter yarn or a darker yarn than the inner fabric.
  • Patterns through which the inner mitten is visible are most often knitted with two knitting needles, but it will be possible to switch to two knitting needles only when the first few rows are knitted with several knitting needles. Usually the fabric is sewn on the side (but not on the thumb side) using knitted seams.
  • Despite the thickness of the outer mitten, its thumb will in any case need to be knitted in stockinette stitch with five knitting needles. At the end of knitting, many women simply tuck the inner layer of the mitten into the outer one, but many do it differently: they simply tie the wrong side of the product and find this method much more convenient than the traditional one.
  • Before you start knitting the outer layer of the mitten, you need to remember that it should be 2-3 rows larger than the inner one. Double-layer mittens are always warmer than single-layer ones.
  • It is recommended to wash knitted mittens by hand in warm water - this method will give the desired shape to the product: it will straighten and compress the fabrics where necessary.

On our website you will find even more patterns for knitting double mittens.

With the onset of frosty and cold days, you want to insulate yourself as much as possible: put on warm clothes, don’t forget about a hat and scarf, hide your palms in mittens or mittens, gloves. With the onset of frosty and cold days, you want to insulate yourself as much as possible.

Knitting mittens for those craftswomen who have been holding knitting needles in their hands for a long time is a familiar and ordinary thing: most of them do such work mechanically, without thinking about the sequence of actions. For beginners in knitting, such work will seem a little difficult, but exciting and interesting. Schemes and descriptions of the process of how to knit a beautifully simple product will help you do the job correctly, efficiently and in an original way.

  1. In order for the mittens to fit perfectly on the palm, without squeezing your fingers or hand, you should start by determining the size. To do this, draw a brush onto the paper along the outer contour and calculate the size of the product, as well as how many loops will need to be cast on for a certain size of the product.
  2. Cast on 48 stitches on two knitting needles at the same time, then carefully remove one knitting needle and distribute the entire amount into 4 equal parts (12 loops each) onto different knitting needles. A marker is attached to the working loop so as not to subsequently lose the beginning of the circular row.
  3. Further knitting of the cuff with knitting needles is done with an elastic band, after which a few centimeters of stockinette stitch will fit.
  4. 8 loops from the first knitting needle are removed with a safety pin, and the same number of loops is cast on to continue working. Knit in satin stitch until the end of the little finger, after which they begin to decrease the loops evenly, the last 8 loops are knitted loop into loop.
  5. To the 8 previously removed loops, add the same number of additional ones and distribute them onto 4 knitting needles. The thumb is knitted from the collected quantity, the last pair of stitches is knitted together with the front one.

Knitting mittens for those craftswomen who have been holding knitting needles in their hands for a long time is a familiar and ordinary thing.

The instructions for making mittens for inexperienced needlewomen include making the product using stockinette stitch, since these are the simplest mittens, which can then be painted at your discretion.

Beautiful knitted mittens with a pattern

Products knitted with a beautiful pattern look original. Such mittens do not need to be further decorated, as they themselves look elegant and exclusive. Beautiful knitting of such a product is not difficult in itself; it is important to follow the step-by-step instructions.

  1. To start working, cast on 40 loops, distribute them evenly onto 4 knitting needles and close them in a circle.
  2. Next we knit according to the pattern, openwork leaves will appear. On row 41, 6 stitches are lowered onto a safety pin for the thumb hole and knitting continues, casting on five stitches for balance.
  3. Having knitted all the rows according to the pattern, close the work and proceed to knitting the thumb, distributing 12 loops onto 4 knitting needles. Knit 15 rows in stockinette stitch, then knit 2 loops simultaneously on each needle until the end.

The product for the second hand is knitted similarly, in a symmetrical reflection.

Knitted mittens with braids: step-by-step instructions

Warm and original mittens with a braid pattern can be knitted by following simple instructions and without deviating from the standard pattern. You can make this product from thick, coarse yarn, or you can make the product thin and light.

  1. Cast on 52 stitches on a pair of knitting needles and work with a double elastic band for 20 rows in the round. In the last row two loops are added.
  2. Starting from the 10th row, knit the finger gradually until 20 extra loops are formed. They are put on a pin and knitting continues according to the pattern.
  3. To knit a finger, knit the required length, then connect 1 and 2 together simultaneously using knit stitch, in the last row there are 2 knit stitches. At the end, tighten the remaining loops.

The right mitten is knitted in a symmetrical manner similar to the left one.

Knitted mittens with ornaments

You can make men's or women's mittens with an ornament with your own hands from any yarn, but it is advisable to use white or gray threads for the base. Men will also prefer a black base, diluted with gray ornaments.

The pattern can be made with any threads of a contrasting color.

  1. Cast on 48 stitches per pair of knitting needles, then distribute them onto 3 knitting needles (16 stitches each).
  2. Knit 4 rows with a double elastic band, then introduce a colored thread and knit a couple of rows. This alternation is repeated again. After which the cuff is ready.
  3. Knit four rows with a single-color thread using the stockinette stitch method and move on to the ornament.
  4. For decoration, the loops are redistributed in half and 24 loops are knitted according to the pattern. Having reached the second mark of the diagram, the number of loops begins to be reduced by 2 on both sides. This way all the loops are gradually closed.
  5. They return to knitting the fingers, which is carried out according to the standard pattern.

If you strictly follow the pattern of the ornament, the mittens will turn out cool and very creative.

Children's ideas for winter mittens
