7 wonders of the world embodied through a woman. Seven wonders of the world: the Cheops pyramid, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the statue of Zeus at Olympia, the temple of Artemis, the mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes, the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Babylon in Iraq

UNESCO began to implement the sensational project called "New 7 Wonders" (New7wonders). All inhabitants of the planet Earth with Internet access and telephone communications are given the opportunity to choose a landmark that has become the cultural heritage of mankind and change the outdated list of wonders of the world.
The leader of the Taj Mahal
The New7wonders project appeared because the classic list of seven wonders of the world (grandiose monuments of the Hellenistic world), which was created in the III century BC, has now turned into an abstraction. Of the miracles included in it, only the pyramid of Cheops in Giza (Egypt) was preserved. The hanging gardens of Babylon in Babylon (present-day Iraq), the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus (modern Turkey), the statue of Olympian Zeus (standing in the city of Olympia, Ancient Greece), the Mausoleum (tomb of the Carian king Mausoleum in Halicarnassus, now the city of Bodrum, Turkey) have long been lost, The Colossus of Rhodes (the island of Rhodes, which is located off the coast of modern Turkey) and the Lighthouse of Alexandria on the island of Faros (Egypt).
The project for the selection of new wonders of the world was launched back in 2004, then the list consisted of two hundred architectural monuments and world attractions. A year later, this list was reduced to 77 objects, and in January 2006 a new list was approved, which included only 21 monuments.
Only the Cheops pyramid in Giza was included in the new list of classical wonders of the world, which is understandable, since all the others, as already noted, have not survived to this day. Such world-famous architectural monuments as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the New York skyscraper Empire State Building and the London Big Ben were excluded from the list approved by UNESCO.
You can vote for applicants on the official website of the project www.new7wonders.com, which also has a Russian-language segment.
More than 20 million people around the world have already voted on the project’s website. The leader is the Indian Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China and the Peruvian Inca city of Machu Picchu. A new list of seven wonders of the world will be announced on July 7, 2007 in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon. The funds received during the voting, according to the assurances of UNESCO representatives, will be directed to the reconstruction of monuments of world significance.
 Something about applicants
The list of 21 structures presents all regions of the world, except for Central Asia. The greatest number of miracles are European. This is the Acropolis of Athens, the Alhambra fortress in Spain, the Bavarian castle of Neyshvanshteyn, the Roman Colosseum, the British Stonehenge and the Eiffel Tower.
North America is represented by the New York statue of Liberty and the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza (Yucatan Peninsula, the territory of modern Mexico), South America is represented by the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu and the statue of Christ the Savior in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Asia Pacific - Cambodian city-temple of Angkor Wat and Japanese temple Kemizu. Australia and Oceania are also represented by two miracles - the Sydney Opera House and the stone statues of Easter Island. From the South Asia, the Taj Mahal in India was on the list, from Black Africa - the fortified city of Timbuktu. The Middle East is also not forgotten - Egyptian pyramids and the Nabataean city of Petra (now Jordan) carved into the rock are nominated from it. Turkey, claiming the status of a bridge between the West and the East, is represented by the Hagia Sophia mosque, it is also the Byzantine temple of Hagia Sophia. It was impossible, of course, to do without the Great Wall of China. From Russia, the ensemble of Red Square with the Kremlin and St. Basil's Cathedral was selected.
Here are brief inquiries about miracles little known to the general public.
 Alhambra Citadel (Spain)
Alhambra is a distorted Arabic name meaning "red fortress." The citadel is built of red-pink brick on a mountain above Granada and is a monument of the period when Arabs owned a significant part of Spain.
The rulers of the construction of the Alhambra were the rulers of the Emirate of Granada, a state in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, which arose after the Arabs invaded the European continent from North Africa. Construction began in the middle of the XIII century, subsequently expansion and alterations were carried out almost continuously.
At the end of the 15th century, the Reconquista was crowned with success - the conquest of the Arabs by the Christian Spanish kingdoms of the Iberian Peninsula from the Arabs. Then a cross was erected over the Alhambra, mosques turned into Christian churches. Christian monarchs also fell in love with the Alhambra and began to rebuild it to their taste, so that in its interior decoration elements of various eras and artistic directions are bizarrely combined. Outside, the fortress is perhaps the most striking example of Arab medieval architecture.
 Chichen Itza (Mexico)
Chichen Itza in the Mayan language means "spring of the people of Itza." This city, located on the Yucatan Peninsula, was one of the most important centers of Mayan civilization. There are pyramids, strikingly similar to similar structures on the other side of the ocean, in Egypt.
Some believe this coincidence is not accidental and conclude that the ancient Mayans communicated with the Egyptians and Babylonians. In the 20th century, the traveler Thor Heyerdahl even took a trip across the Atlantic Ocean in a papyrus boat, trying to prove that the Egyptians could cross the vast expanse of water and meet with the Mayans. Others see in the similarity of the Egyptian pyramids and the temple complex of Chichen Itza the proof of the common roots of the Mayan and Egyptian civilizations, placing these same "roots" in the legendary Atlantis.
 Timbuktu (Mali)
The name of the city means "Buxtu well" (so, according to legend, the name of the woman who dug the first well in the place where the city later grew up) was called.
The city was founded by the Tuareg tribe living in the Sahara desert, presumably in the X century and was an important military and commercial center of all the powerful empires of Black Africa.
Timbuktu is located on the edge of the Sahara, on the border of the black and Arab North Africa. In ancient times, caravan routes converged from the mouth of the Niger River, from Egypt, Mauritania and Morocco (and through these countries, in turn, trade was conducted with Europe, primarily with Spain).
Modern Timbuktu is probably the only city in the world, so poor and at the same time having an international class airport, which attracts many tourists. The population of Timbuktu is now a little more than 30 thousand people.
 Neuschwanstein Castle (Germany)
The name Neuschwanstein is associated with Lohengrin, the Swan Knight from Wagner’s opera (Schwan is Swan in German). This name was invented by the customer who built the castle - the Bavarian king Ludwig II Wittelsbach, a big fan and main patron of Wagner.
The castle is located in an unusually picturesque area, among the lakes and mountains of Southern Bavaria, near the border with Austria. The castle built at the end of the 19th century, of course, had no defense significance, but was a whim of the eccentric and, as many believed, crazy Ludwig II. At the same time, the spirit of romance and antiquity embodied by him made him a symbol of everything fabulous.
Statue of Christ the Savior in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
The 38-meter-high statue is set in the Tijuca Forest on the top of Mount Corcovado, which rises more than 700 meters above Rio de Janeiro. Christ, as it were, looks down at the city, and hugs him with outstretched arms.
The statue was created at the initiative of the local church authorities and opened in 1931. The project was developed by Frenchman of Polish descent Paul Landowski.
In October 2006, in honor of the 75th anniversary of the monument, a chapel was consecrated at its foot, and now local residents can baptize their children and marry under the canopy of the statue, which they have great respect and love.
 Kemizu Temple in Kyoto (Japan)
The full name of the temple is: “Otovasen Kemizu-dera”, which means “temple of pure water”. Inside the temple complex, there is a 13-meter Otova waterfall, but the temple is named after it. In the old days, pilgrims jumped from a waterfall. Many survived. Now such jumps are strictly prohibited.
The temple belongs to the Hosso Buddhist school. It was founded in 798. In its current form, the complex was formed in the XVII century. Almost all structures in it are wooden.
Kemizu is one of the most revered Japanese temples. It is located in Kyoto, which for a thousand years, starting from the VIII century, was the residence of Japanese emperors and the cultural center of Japan. In 1945, the American Special Committee, which was engaged in the selection of targets for the first nuclear bombing, considered the city as one of those. It was strictly forbidden to bomb Kyoto Minister of War Henry Stimson, who admired the city, and in particular the Kemizu Temple, since he spent his honeymoon there.

The seven wonders of the ancient world are an example of the exceptional popularity of inventions and structures. This is the best monument in history dedicated to the creative thought of the rulers, the unbridled imagination of architects and the craft of builders. The imagination of people over the millennia helps to recreate the missing elements of the cultural heritage, which received the common title of “Seven Wonders of the World”. Legends about the creations of human hands that have disappeared from the face of the earth continue to excite the minds of new adventurers.

Seven Ancient Wonders of the World

It is easier to understand the significance of the list of outstanding monuments for the ancient world if we draw analogies with modern ratings of the most popular sights and phenomena. The list of seven wonders of the world can be considered the first and most famous tourist booklet in history. But the significance of this small list of the greatest monuments is much deeper. Unfortunately, the grandiose structures were not preserved. Time, catastrophes, natural elements and wars did not spare seven wonders of the world, or rather, 6 out of 7.

The history of one of the most famous lists of attractions begins in the distant past of world civilization. Perhaps the idea of traveling and exploring the monuments on the land of North Africa, Persia, Babylon and Ancient Greece came from the great Alexander of Macedon, who conquered in the 4th century BC. e. a significant part of the world known at that time. The wisdom of the commander did not escape the grandeur of the plan, which follows the pyramid of Cheops in Egypt. By the joint efforts of travelers, conquerors, scientists, writers of antiquity and the Middle Ages, descriptions of the greatest monuments of antiquity were compiled. It is generally accepted that the historian of antiquity Herodotus worked on one of the first lists of world wonders 450 years before the advent of a new era. Peru, an outstanding scientist and poet of ancient Greece - Philo of Byzantium - owns the manuscript "On the Seven Wonders of the World", which appeared about 300 BC. e.

In ancient Greece, it was considered magical, so the number of attractions on the list remained unchanged for many centuries. The canonical seven wonders of the world is a list that has come down to a new time in a poem by the ancient Greek writer Antipater of Sidon. He wrote about the luxury of tombs, beautiful temple complexes, colossal monuments and hanging gardens.

Great Pyramids

By the Middle Ages, when the classic list of “Seven Wonders of the World” was formed today, the Egyptian pyramids erected on the west bank of the Nile were preserved on the planet and were available for inspection. The oldest monuments date back to the period from 2700 to 2550 years BC. e. Of the ten, three are particularly striking in their size and grandeur of construction work.

Admirable is the good preservation of structures that have been experiencing for several millennia the withering heat of the day and the ringing night cold when, in the words of the locals, “the stones are crying” in the desert. Remarkable in engineering design and simple in form designs appeared due to the most accurate measurements, which were unbelievably difficult for their time. In addition to complex calculations, for the construction it was required to deliver extremely heavy stone blocks from afar, to raise them to a great height.

Giza Pyramid

The Great Pyramid of Cheops in Egypt is considered the most famous wonder of the world. Pharaoh Khufu, who ruled in 2584-2561 BC. e., implemented a grandiose plan to build his necropolis on the Giza plateau. To create a pyramid and fence around the building, 13 hectares of land were allotted. is one of the earliest and most vivid examples of the combination of human enthusiasm, fantasy and engineering calculation. The construction of the necropolis can be called the most time-consuming historical project, given the lack of all the necessary tools and construction equipment in Ancient Egypt.

The Cheops Pyramid is distinguished by massiveness, an abundance of internal halls, galleries, and cameras. In addition to this, for 3800 years she headed the list of the highest man-made structures in the world (146.7 m per year of construction). There are many interpretations and explanations associated with the form and purpose of the great pyramid. When the rays of the all-consuming tropical sun glide along the edges of the structure, the idea of the ancient ruler of Egypt, who, like these rays, wanted to go to the divine luminary after his death, becomes clear.

 Babylon in Iraq

Beautiful gardens in the ancient city-state of Babylon were built by the great king in about 605 BC. e. Researchers of ancient manuscripts claim that the ancient ruler approved the magnificent landscape project at the request of one of his beloved wives, yearning for the trees and grasses of his native country. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is the most mysterious of miracles on the list. They are surrounded by myths and legends, the exact location of the structure has not been established, the remains of buildings have not been found.

Some scholars of the ancient world doubt the existence of such a magnificent ancient park on a hill located south of modern Baghdad. Maybe the gardens are born of the fantasy of storytellers? Historians find very little accurate information, facts, documentary evidence in the annals of Babylon. But the ancient Greek poets claimed that the priests prepared the design of the hanging gardens, led their creation. described multi-level gardens with a height of 22 m, equipped with machines for lifting water from the nearest Euphrates River.

The Greek historian Strabo mentioned beautiful quadrangular gardens with arched vaults and stairs for lifting people and water to the very top. Slaves planted trees and flowers on the 400 m 2 brick-fortified slopes, and a beautiful garden was protected by a roof from above. One can understand why contemporaries were fascinated by the hanging gardens of Babylon. In Iraq, on the arid land of ancient Mesopotamia, it is very difficult to create large, well-groomed green spaces. In the historical chronicles, the gardens are depicted as beautiful and luxurious. To achieve such perfection was not easy, this area from ancient times receives little rainfall. The gardens were destroyed by several earthquakes two centuries after the reign of Nebuchadnezzar.

Zeus statue in Olympia

It did not last long, erected around the 430s BC. e. the temple for which the sculptor Phidius created a statue of Zeus. In Olympia, in Greece, a religious building dedicated to the supreme god was built for 10 years on the donations of the population. The sanctuary was built of marble, strengthened by a massive colonnade of local shell rock. The external surfaces of the walls were decorated with bas-reliefs on which sculptors recreated myths about the 12 exploits of Hercules - the mythical hero, the son of the supreme deity. One could get into the temple by going through huge bronze doors.

A significant part of the cult premises was occupied by a statue of Zeus. In Olympia, in Greece, the ancient Olympic Games were dedicated to this deity. The sculpture was not created simultaneously with the construction of the temple, but over time it became the most grandiose and most magnificent part of the temple complex. The statue of Zeus by Phidias rested on a wide pedestal, its height along with the base was approximately 15 m. The Supreme God of Olympus sat on the throne, his cape was gilded, ivory was used for decoration.

Fear for the preservation of the statue forced the Greeks to transport it to Constantinople, but the fire destroyed the wonderful creation. Although the monument has not been preserved, it remains on the list of “Seven Wonders of the World”. The statue of Zeus is depicted in the paintings, there are its models that accurately convey the depth of the plan of the sculptor, glorifying the ancient deity. In our time, one can only imagine the true greatness of this monument, the attitude of the Greeks towards God, whom they tirelessly extolled in their temples and dwellings.

Wonder of the World at Ephesus

The construction of the temple, dedicated to the Greek goddess of hunting and wildlife, was completed by 550 BC. e. The Ephesus miracle is often attributed to one of the most famous "long-term construction projects": it took about 120 years to erect it. Contemporaries might not know that the religious building will be included in the list of “Seven Wonders of the World”. The Temple of Artemis (Diana) in Ephesus was a beautiful marble building. The builders decorated it with slender columns, covered it with a wooden roof, on which they laid tiles. In this amazing building, contemporaries were struck by the harmonious combination of the decoration of the interior with the external design of the entire building.

The temple, built of magnificent marble, was a favorite building from the list of miracles for Antipater of Sidon, the compiler of this famous list. Herostratus - a young Greek - burned the temple of Artemis in Ephesus (in Turkey). This event happened in the summer of 356 BC. e. The barbaric act was caused by a great desire to become famous over the centuries, to achieve fame. Outraged citizens sentenced Herostratus to death and banned the mention of his name. The temple of Artemis at Ephesus began to be gradually restored already under the Turkish rulers, but the ancient shrine was again destroyed, now by the Goths. The newly restored building was finally demolished in 401 by an angry crowd of religious fanatics led by the Archbishop of Constantinople.

Rhodes Colossus

One of the most recognizable ancient wonders is the Colossus of Rhodes in Greece. This grandiose monument owed its appearance to the ancient city-states that existed 2 centuries before the beginning of a new era. The population and rulers of Rhodes decided to perpetuate the memory of the victorious struggle with the One-Eyed Antigone, to celebrate the lifting of the siege. Fighting vehicles were melted into a giant statue of the patron saint of Rhodes - the god Helios - 30 m high.

It is not known exactly when the construction began, ancient authors cite different dates in the sources. The ancient historian Pliny several centuries later wrote that the Colossus was built for 12 years. The task to cast the bronze statue of Helios - the god of the Sun - was received by Greek sculptors. A giant monument was erected on the cape, strengthened by a system of stone blocks and iron bars.

The list of “Seven Wonders of the World” lost one sight after a strong Colossus could not resist the power of tremors and was destroyed only 56 years after its triumphal appearance in Rhodes Bay. The fall of the statue was immediately commented on by the Delphic oracle. An ancient psychic said that the inhabitants of Rhodes angered the god Helios. The ruler of Egypt offered his help in rebuilding the monument, but he was refused.

The magnificent tomb in Halicarnassus

A giant white tomb was erected to repose the governor of one of the provinces of Persia - Mausolus - on the orders of his wife, who lived in Halicarnassus. This is the territory of the modern resort of Bodrum on the coast of the Aegean Sea. The mausoleum in Halicarnassus in Turkey was erected by Greek sculptors. The design was tall and richly decorated inside and out. The tomb was crowned by a pyramid of 36 columns. The spouse of Mavsol did not spare funds for the construction of an elevated grave, her ashes should also be in a magnificent mausoleum.

In the ancient world, the luxury of the tomb in Halicarnassus was appreciated. The architectural grandeur of the structure and its aesthetic merits impressed not only Greek scientists and poets, but also the commander of Antipater. There is a mention in historical chronicles that it was he who proposed to consider the building as one of the wonders of the world. In the XV century, the tomb in Halicarnassus collapsed after another earthquake, and the stones were used for construction in Bodrum. Now, when it comes to colossal burial expenses, they recall Tsar Mavsol, who has become a model of ostentatious wealth and luxury.

Faros Lighthouse

The Alexandrian lighthouse on the island of Faros was one of the highest among the ancient structures, and its base reached almost 400 m in length. It was the first lighthouse in history, during the construction of which many innovative technologies known at that time were used. The Greek architect Sostratus created a project by order of the ruler of Ptolemy II in 304 BC. e. A warning system about the danger of entering the Alexandria Bay past the island of Faros in the Mediterranean Sea was created in stages over the course of more than 20 years. The lighthouse was supposed to warn of the underwater reefs of Faros, on which it was built.

The design consisted of three oblong marble towers, their total height could be from 120 to 140 m. The last part was a cylinder, fire was burning on its top. The inventors came up with a way to obtain directional solar reflection using mirrors that gave a signal in the afternoon. At night, the attendants of the lighthouse traditionally lit a fire. If there was no sun during the day, then sailors were warned by a column of smoke. For several centuries, the construction was considered the highest artificial construction.

Several earthquakes severely damaged the wonderful Alexandria lighthouse on Faros. Sailors, military, merchants and travelers needed to be restored. The Arabs, having invaded Egypt, began repairs and brought the construction height to 30 m. At this, the construction work was completed, and in 1480 a fort was erected from the same building materials from the same building materials. The lighthouse on Faros stood in the sea for nearly 1000 years.

List of miracles - a heritage of world history and culture

Scientists believe that more complete and accurate lists of wonders of the world could be stored in the Alexandria Library - the most important world collection of ancient manuscripts. The repository was badly damaged during a fire caused by the invasion of Alexandria by Julius Caesar. Almost 500 thousand books and scrolls destroyed the tongues of fire. A huge layer of cultural heritage has disappeared, on which the paths that world history has taken have depended in many respects.

Seven wonders of the world are valuable monuments of ancient art and architecture. These are not only beautiful sights, but also complex construction and technical solutions. Each of the creations was unique, outstanding for its time. Ancient buildings and monuments were elevated to the rank of miracles by the most outstanding scientists, creators, and rulers of the ancient world. Little is mentioned in various sources that some changes were made to the list, but its essence and name remained unchanged. The list necessarily included seven miracles, as has been the case since Herodotus and Philo of Byzantium.

Of the amazing structures of the ancient world, only the Cheops pyramid has survived to our days, the rest fell under the onslaught of barbarians or became victims of natural disasters. No one knows exactly what the six wonders of the world looked like. All images are the fruit of historical search, reconstructions, fantasies of historians and artists. Each generation brings something of its own to the understanding of a cultural phenomenon called the "seven wonders of the world." Each of these artifacts has its own website on the Internet. A solid scientific work is devoted to the study of man-made miracles.

The role of mythology in maintaining interest in the seven wonders of the world

For 2.5 millennia, the antique list of the main attractions of the Old World excites the minds of researchers, travelers, ordinary people. All past centuries, the attitude to the seven wonders of the world was almost mystical. It is surprising that the ancient authors did not show much desire to expand the “top 7”, to replace the old sights in the list with new monuments.

Researchers of the ancient world claim that the attitude to miracles from the famous list has always been respectful. It was believed that seven ancient architectural structures and monuments are deservedly included in a short but capacious list. Each participant in this historic “hit parade” has become a national shrine, an object of worship and veneration.

The magic of the number 7 in ancient times was considered divine, irrational. The mythology and life of many peoples of the planet are associated with this number of elements in different spheres of life. For example, in a week - 7 days. The explanation can be the structure of the solar system, or rather, the way the celestial sphere was represented in ancient Greece. The Sun, Moon and five planets were visible with the naked eye. The ancient gods had the same names (Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, Mercury).

Wonders of the World: New Version

What seven wonders of the world could compete with the wonderful structures that disappeared from the face of the planet? Based on online voting, a list of other wonders of the world has been created that have been preserved, and you can admire them personally. The action was organized and held on the threshold of the third millennium by a non-profit organization. The initiators of this grandiose action put forward several good reasons that prompted us to compile various lists and codes of world attractions of the highest level:

 • traditional ancient miracles were located only in that part of the Old World that was familiar and submitted to Hellenic culture;
 • the list did not include grandiose structures in a significant part of Asia, in the New World and in other regions;
 • selection to the list was carried out according to criteria depending on the ideas of the ancient Greeks about wonderful monuments;
 • "Overboard" were natural phenomena that sometimes surpass man-made miracles in their grandeur.

The determination of the winners of the entire project was decided to be carried out separately among architectural and natural monuments. The results were also summed up twice: in 2007 and 2011. Residents of two hundred states participated in an online survey. According to its results, “favorites” were selected - attractions that are known to most of the inhabitants of the planet. We are talking about the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in India, the construction of Machu Picchu in Peru in South America and other phenomena. But the UNESCO Committee responded to this action by stating that popular voting is not the method that needs to be used to find miracles that can replace artifacts of world history and culture that have disappeared in antiquity.

Interview

The creative tandem of photographer Elena Tryapitsyna and model Braza Rozova turned seven wonders of the world into women. What Zeus and the Alexandria lighthouse look like with chests (and it’s really beautiful), as well as how Braz Rozov talks about such an unusual series of photos.

"Temple of Artemis",

Perhaps this is eternal beauty - the beauty of a woman who is inspiring, giving life and peace at all times.

Shocked once by the minds of the ancient wonders of the world, to this day remain mysterious and bewitching. In the project “Seven Wonders of the World” they also become feminine and very lively. Visitors are waiting for the installation of wonders of the world, video, music, light show and, of course, the main miracle, the eighth is beauty. On photos.

- Braz, a team of three girls worked on the project “7 wonders of the world embodied through a woman”. Are there any obvious differences in creativity and work exclusively with women? Did this fact bring something special to the exhibition?

I was very pleased to cooperate with Maria Chernykh and Elena Tryapitsyna. It probably depends more on the people themselves, and not on their gender. As for the special - rather natural here - it was, of course, easier for us three girls to imagine the embodiment of every wonder of the world through a woman. But nevertheless, there is one peculiarity in our union: we are all very different and therefore each of us, through the prism of our character, created wonders of the world, which in the end should have come to a single, already agreed result.

- Transformation into Zeus was easy? What changes inside you when you play a male role? Did you enjoy being a man?

Yes, I quickly reincarnated as Zeus, but the task was a little different: not just to play Zeus, but to realize the Woman through Zeus the man. And it was precisely this that was difficult: to keep within itself the foundation of Man with the knowledge that in Him the beginning of Woman.

- In the photographs that beat the Gardens of Babylon, you look the most feminine, soft and open. It is believed that softness is a hallmark of the female. Where can not be soft? Where can not be tough?

On the way to achieving his goal, a person should never be soft to himself. You can’t be tough in love.

- There is nothing vulgar in your exhibition, but it is obvious that the 18+ label has already been assigned to it. How do you feel about the fact that in the modern world they are already trying to ban classical art for demonstration to children?

I support this position, but only in relation to those children in which parents form the perception of the naked body, exclusively as something indecent, and not as the beauty of nature or art.

- The exhibition is completely built on the interaction with classical images. To prepare you got acquainted with the history of the seven wonders of the world. What surprised you or amazed you most about these stories?

Yes, a lot of material has been read. I watched enough video material. Thanks to this knowledge, our task - to revive every miracle of the world - has become much easier. What struck me in these stories was how stately people of that time showed their feelings: if they loved, they already loved so much that the mountains could turn over for the sake of a loved one, or even build them.

- What is your favorite image in this series? Why is he beloved?

The Colossus of Rhodes. He is handsome! No matter how corny it sounds (laughs).

"Mausoleum in Halicarnassus",
photographer Elena Tryapitsyna, model Braza Rozova, makeup artist Maria Chernykh.

- In the photographs of the Lighthouse of Alexandria, it shines, burns, and goes out ... It's a whole life. Of all the wonders of the world, only the pyramids have reached us ... What can revive the past and does it need to be revitalized? Are there not enough new miracles in the world?

The eternal cannot be in the past. The memory of these wonders of the world, which has been transmitted for more than 4,500 years, revives them for us. Our exhibition will help you to get closer to the masterpieces of art. New wonders of the world also delight me, but still, you must admit, they never forget the first!

- What is the main message of the exhibition?

To expose the female nature for the viewer, as the Eighth Wonder of the World.

- Why did you choose exactly seven wonders of the ancient world as a support for your project. Why, for example, not a list of Zen coens, a set of tarot cards or geniuses of the Renaissance?

Of the many innovations, it was chosen that is closer to beauty, love, mystery. After all, these words are directly related to a woman.

- Did something change in you during the work on the exhibition?

For me, new facets of my love of art have opened up.

- You are a professional model, identify the three main rules for the successful operation of the model.

The first is to feel what the photographer wants from you, the second is to show your initiative in accordance with a given image, the third is not to consider yourself a model.

- And the three main mistakes that should not be made in your work.

The first mistake is not to listen to people, the second is to cooperate only for your own interests, the third is not to fall headlong into art.

"Alexandrian lighthouse",
photographer Elena Tryapitsyna, model Braza Rozova, makeup artist Maria Chernykh.

- How long have you been doing creative work, have you had such bright projects and which ones?

I remember back in 5 years, I showed performances to grandparents ... Probably, then I was already engaged in creativity. And this exhibition is my first such project!

- What projects are planned? What will please the viewer in the future?

The next photo project is radically different format, it is on military topics. We plan to launch it in 2015 for the great holiday of May 9. The plans are another photoproject, the idea of which is so far kept secret. Perhaps it will be possible to carry it out this summer.

- Why is it worth visiting your exhibition?

At all times, a man was drawn to a woman - at the exhibition he will be able to contemplate the fullness of the disclosure of femininity. Beauty has always captivated the female eye - the exhibition will not leave indifferent any of the fair sex.

For a month Bolshaya Morskaya Street will become a haven for all seven wonders of the world. Created and described in the ancient world, they are still inspiring. This inspiration is sometimes enough to see the female living beauty in sculpture and architecture and combine the eternal with the modern.

On April 23, at the exhibition center of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists, 38 Bolshaya Morskaya St., a multimedia exhibition "Seven Wonders of the World embodied through a woman" will open.

Photographer Elena Tryapitsina and model Braza Rozova talk about how the shooting process attracted the audience, how to portray a stern man, and why the exhibition is definitely worth a visit.

How did your creative union come about?

Elena: We met by chance.

Braza: But on the first day we met, we realized that we wanted to create something together. We decided that this should be an exhibition.

But how did the idea of this project come about?

Elena: We wanted to do something that would be interesting not only to us, but also to the viewer. We decided that this should be a beautiful modern project about something eternal. The idea of female images grew into the idea of architecture.

Braza: The idea of architecture grew into the idea of historical images, Cleopatra, for example. And then this thought came about the embodiment of the wonders of the world in the image of a woman. And suddenly we realized that the idea is brilliant!

Elena: Yes! Everyone knows something about the wonders of the world, but whoever you ask, everyone will call two or three, no more. Having knowledge of the wonders of the world to understand them in the image of a woman is interesting. We will try to show it to the viewer.

After the idea formed, what did you do next?

Elena: We looked at a huge amount of materials about the originals of the wonders of the world - films, literature.

Braza: I watched the documentaries before each shoot to fill the image with the background.

Elena: For example, the Gardens of Babylon. It would seem that we all have some idea about them, but according to legend, they were created for the yearning princess who misses her homeland, and in the photographs we tried to convey this through a look, a pose ...

Braza: That is, it is not just external similarity, but semantic.

So these are seven meanings, seven images. Braza, was it hard to transform from one to another?

Braza: No, not at all. When you catch up with an idea, you’re more likely to run on a set to bring it to life. In addition, it was very easy for me to work with Lena and our makeup artist.

Elena: Yes, the third member of our team is a makeup artist, Maria Chernykh. She did makeup and hairstyles.

Braza: This is very important! Although I initially had no idea how we would work with her. But when we did the first photo shoot, the Pyramid, and it made me a make-up, I realized that it was simply impossible to do it better!

Elena: It was a sphinx makeup. And he was awesome!

Braza: It seems to me that everything turned out thanks to the cooperation of the whole team.

Elena: In addition to all our miracles, there were only three shootings. So the task for the model is difficult, but I saw how Braz’s look, movement, mood changes with each new image.

Braza: We also have our famous Zeus!

Yes, it must have been the hardest to do!

Elena: This is another story!

Braza: I'm so glad that during the photo shoot no one gave me a mirror! After all, there is such a strange moment when you see yourself in an unusual way - the image of a man.

Elena: This is also a man with a beard! We had a long search about this.

But you have found! Zeus became your favorite image in the series?

Braza: My favorite photograph was the one I first received from Lena - Colossus of Rhodes.

Elena, and you?

Elena: I like them all, of course.

Braza: So stop, I like them all too!

Elena: But they are all so different! I probably have the Gardens of Babylon. Braza is so feminine, so fragile, of incredible beauty!

And at the exhibition of photographs how many will be, seven?

Braza: No, there will be three for each wonder of the world.

Elena: All photos will also have a description, a photo of the original wonder of the world in a classic interpretation and a three-dimensional installation. All this will help to better perceive the exhibition.

Braza: Everything should turn out on a large scale.

Work, probably, was also large-scale. Captured mountains of photos? After all, they also had to choose the best!

Elena: I will not say that it was very difficult to choose the best, because in my head there was already a picture of how it should be.
